Catherine and Derek met by chance one night at a pub and exchanged numbers. Catherine had recently returned from South Korea; staying with various family members, she was hard to track down. She’d almost given up on the idea of him calling when Derek finally found her a week later. You could say their first date was a success: it lasted over a week :)
You only have to know them for about 30 seconds to see that it’s no surprise that it was love at first sight. Catherine is an energetic, talented artist (seriously, check out her work here) who can never sit still, and Derek is a calm, grounding force with a twinkle in his eye. It’s obvious how perfectly they fit together.
Catherine and Derek celebrated their outdoor wedding at Par Place in Prince Albert, which was the perfect setting for their rustic, natural style, complemented by loads (and I mean LOADS) of incredible DIY. Catherine’s bohemian, romantic decor was enhanced by nods to Derek’s love of hunting, by incorporating wood and antlers amongst the flowers and vintage glass. Derek’s family is pretty talented too – his cousins sang and played guitar as Catherine walked down the aisle, and his sister did the most incredible acoustic version of Crazy Love for their first dance. Complete with amazing food and a log cabin bursting at the seams with wonderful people, Catherine and Derek were blessed with their perfect day in the woods.
