Fousiya and Ashwin’s fall wedding in Saskatoon was a heartfelt celebration of love, laughter, and a journey spanning 13 years. Their story began just after high school, while preparing for their engineering entrance exams. For Ashwin, it was love at first sight. Their relationship blossomed quickly from friendship into a bond that endured the challenges of long-distance. Despite always living in different countries – Ashwin in Kuwait, and Fousiya in India and now Canada – they’ve never let a day pass without talking. Eventually, this unbreakable connection led them to a memorable proposal in Barcelona, making their story one of perseverance and romance.

The couple chose the University of Saskatchewan campus as the backdrop for their intimate fall wedding in Saskatoon. Fousiya, a Master’s student in engineering, described the university as “where her heart lies,” making it the perfect location. She wore the western-style white wedding dress she’d always dreamed of, and wouldn’t be able to wear at a traditional Indian wedding. Ashwin travelled in from Kuwait for the big day. The iconic architecture of the U of S campus and the brilliant fall foliage provided a stunning setting for their pre-ceremony photoshoot.

Later that afternoon, they exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony, witnessed by just a handful of close friends. After Fousiya’s graduation, they’ll celebrate with a large traditional wedding at home with their families, in either India or Kuwait.

As they look ahead to their next chapter, Fousiya and Ashwin’s love story is a testament to resilience, understanding, and shared dreams. Congratulations, you two!
