I first met Alyssa and Robert when they were in Haley and Dylan’s wedding party, so I already knew that they are a super laid-back pair who are always up for a good time. When Alyssa’s email hit my inbox, I was excited to hear that, after being together since high school, they were planning their country-style Outlook wedding!
Alyssa’s family farmhouse was a flurry of activity when I arrived. It seemed like there was something going on in every room – hair, makeup, and family members everywhere! Alyssa sat calmly in the makeup chair, her usual cheerful self, directing traffic and cracking a beer as she joked with her bridesmaids
A wedding isn’t a wedding without a few surprises, of course. It was Alyssa’s sister Kaylee’s turn in the chair when the makeup artist casually commented on how lovely and glowing her skin was… and Kaylee burst into tears! Turns out she had recently discovered that they were expecting their first baby (!!!), but wanted her sister to have her big day before they announced it. The kitchen was instantly full of excited family members, and a few makeup retouches were definitely required after that!
At the ceremony, Alyssa had a little surprise of her own for Robert. They had arranged to have their dog Buster be the ring bearer, wearing a little doggy tux. As a result, Robert – a die hard Edmonton Eskimos fan – had quite the reaction when he saw Buster coming down the aisle in a Roughriders jersey!
After family photos at the museum, the wedding party jumped in the party bus and headed out to an old farm to hang out and take photos until supper. The Outlook Recreation Complex was decked out in simple white linens, with navy and burlap accents, centerpieces of flowers in fall colors, rustic wood slices, and a massive barnwood backdrop, with some classic Saskatchewan wind chimes for good measure. After some pretty hilarious speeches, including the presentation to Robert of a half Riders/half Eskimos jersey, the dance floor was the place to be well into the night.
Alyssa and Robert, I’m so glad our paths crossed again. Congratulations on a beautiful day filled with love and laughter!
