Sarah and Hammad’s Saskatoon Proposal Story

Hammad and Sarah’s love story began when they met at the University of Saskatchewan six years ago. They’ve been talking engagement for a while. Sarah, however, is notoriously difficult to surprise. To keep her on her toes, Hammad would only promise that he’d propose sometime between November and April.

As the months ticked by, Sarah knew it would happen soon. In an effort to throw her off the trail, Hammad took her on a series of dates to places that were significant to their relationship. At each location, Sarah would think that Hammad was finally going to pop the question. Instead, he would present her with a Ring Pop. The playful gesture kept her guessing and made the eventual proposal all the more of a surprise!

Hammad planned to propose in the student lounge at Qu’Appelle Hall, where he first asked Sarah out on a date. To make the occasion even more memorable, he enlisted the help of a friend to decorate the room with candles, balloons and rose petals, and to capture the moment on video.

When Sarah walked into the room and saw the decorations, she was genuinely shocked. She giggled throughout the whole proposal as Hammad got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. There was some panic a few minutes later when she realized that she was so caught up in the moment that she’d actually forgotten to say yes!

As a Saskatoon proposal photographer, I had the special honor of capturing this joyful moment. The thoughtful and unique approach that Hammad took in planning the proposal, and Sarah’s exuberant reaction, made it all the more special and memorable.
