Shania and Logan’s Flora Bora Wedding at Christopher Lake
They met in high school. Shania was pretty sure she annoyed him. But things took a turn for the better when they sat beside each other in chemistry class, eventually becoming study buddies. On their first date, they went to donate blood together. Logan didn’t tell her he was deathly afraid of needles, but went anyway to impress her. It worked! On a trip to Spain a few years later, Logan popped the question as they strolled through a beautiful botanical garden in Barcelona, and they began planning their Flora Bora wedding.
“Now wasn’t it love soon as we knew each other properly?/Livin’ ’bout half right ’til a certain person got to me”
When you arrive at Flora Bora, you leave your car at the trailhead and walk in to the yurts. It’s only a short walk, but the highway noises soon fall away, leaving you feeling like you’re truly in the heart of the wilderness. And the forest isn’t just a pretty backdrop. In the hush of the towering northern spruce, you can see, hear, and feel the quiet life all around you. It’s the perfect location for an intimate microwedding or elopement.
Shania and Logan love rock climbing, camping, and hiking. So for these lifelong nature lovers, the forest truly feels like home. And who best to invite into your home than your absolute nearest and dearest? They celebrated their intimate wedding day with a close-knit group of just twelve family members and two sweet dogs.
When we first talked about their wedding, Shania and Logan said it wouldn’t be “action-packed” all day long, but they’d like photographs of the whole day anyway. And honestly, it’s those unscheduled parts of a wedding day that make your day unique. When you can just let your day unfold around you, you can soak it up and be in the moment. There’s no pressure, no stress. You have time to truly share it with the people you love, to sit down and enjoy their company – for as long as you want.
“But she’s bringin’ the moon and stars to me/Damn permanent reverie”
With a haze of smoke on the lake, Shania and Logan said their vows in the woods, family and dogs gathered in close. After some photos, everyone gathered back at the yurts for beers on the deck. Logan’s dad manned the BBQ to put the finishing touches on their late lunch under the trees. Speeches and the shoe game meant an afternoon of laughter and happy tears, often at the same time. Shania had said throughout the day that she hoped for rain because it was good luck, and a brief rainshower meant a quick dash into the yurt to open presents.
Soon after, the evening sun peeked through the trees. Shania and Logan’s favourite kind of Saturday ends with a relaxing evening around a campfire, so that’s exactly what they planned. Their first dances on a forest path lead into a dance party around the fire pit, and an evening of memories with their favourite people.
“And even though this life, this love is brief/I’ve got some people who carry me”
Congratulations, Shania and Logan <3
“Tracy was our photographer for our wedding this summer and words cannot describe how wonderful our experience was. Our wedding was one of the best days of our lives, and Tracy did a fabulous job of capturing the happiness and laughter that went along with it. We had a very small intimate wedding, and Tracy worked so professionally. Our entire family was in awe with how she worked throughout the day. We just got our gallery back and I think everyone in our family has called to tell us, “damn she did a good job!” She would go the extra mile to get an amazing shot of my husband and I… even if that meant walking into the Northern Sask bush right off the trail, standing on a wobbly log! We are so happy we chose Tracy for our wedding photos and would recommend her to anyone!”
