It was February 2016. En route to Panorama for some skiing and snowboarding, Sarah and René took a break at the Chateau Lake Louise. They decided to stretch their legs with some ice skating on the lake. When Sarah stopped to innocently take a selfie in front of the ice castle, René dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him.
Clearly, Sarah and René are winter people and love the snow. Sarah knew it was a long shot to wish for snow on their October 8th wedding, but a long shot wasn’t about to stop her from wishing. Well, remember that massive snowstorm last year on October 5th? That’s right – you have Sarah to thank for that one 😉
Their Outlook wedding day began at Sarah’s family home, with a flurry of hair, makeup, and laughter with her mom and bridesmaids. Family and friends gathered in the church while René waited in the back room, eager to see Sarah walk down the aisle. After a simple, beautiful ceremony and family photos on the bible college campus, the wedding party headed out into the snow! Autumn leaves still clung to the trees and the grass was green under the layer of snow. The two seasons in one day gave their photos a unique look, with the colorful leaves adding bright pops of color against the neutral ground and sky (and the obvious opportunity for a leaf fight!).
Back at the hall, everyone quickly warmed up listening to the hilarious speeches and stories about the bride and groom over the years. The cake was cut (with Sarah and René showing remarkable restraint in resisting a cake fight), the bouquet tossed, the flying garter avoided 😉 and the dance floor packed well into the night.
Congratulations Sarah and René, and here’s to all of your wishes coming true!

This looks like it was such a fun wedding! I love the way you capture everything from the small details, to the big emotions. And you found some gorgeous locations – that field where you did the couple’s photos is so pretty! Beautifully captured, Tracy!
