Jaycee and Adam’s Intimate Saskatoon Backyard Wedding
What do you want to remember about your wedding?
As you plan your wedding day, you’ll daydream. A lot. And on the day, some moments will unfold just as you envisioned. But others – countless others – will be moments that you never could have imagined.
The people you love, the unique memories they contribute, and the tales that they weave about their love for you – these are the moments that will endure, far beyond the day itself.
Jaycee and Adam chose to get married at home, in a small and simple backyard wedding in Saskatoon. They envisioned an intimate and emotional day spent with family, full of great food, drinks, and good conversation. And these things happened – but there was so much more.
Jaycee wore her great-great-grandmother’s century-old hairpin as her something blue, carrying on the tradition of every woman in the family before her. Their four cats ate the buns and took a nap on her dress. Eventually, Dad solved the case of the missing shoes.
Grandma’s flowers in the flower bed, which only bloom on special days, were in sudden full bloom in the summer sunshine. Jaycee and Adam said their vows on the back deck, overlooking the home and yard they have poured their hearts into. Not a dry eye in the crowd, right down to the officiant, an old friend of Jaycee.
Champagne and cake followed, in the cool shade of the tall trees, swaying in a thankful breeze. Jaycee and Adam sat on a gifted bench, handmade from wood from the family homestead’s barn, taking a moment to take it all in.
A five-course meal cooked in their own kitchen and served family-style on their back deck, laughter flowing as freely as the wine. Tears from anyone, at any given moment, Kleenex box making the rounds. Regular breaks for kitty snuggles in the basement. Some covert hockey playoff watching. Grandpa’s stories. Warding off the evening chill in a bathrobe, throwing a stick for the dog. Mom doing a chair tip. The back deck turned dance floor with a song about a berserk squirrel.
The moments you imagine, and the moments you never could. Congratulations, Jaycee and Adam <3
