Aimee and Cody always dreamed of a Candle Lake wedding, at the lake where Cody grew up. Together over the years they’ve made many memories here, including their engagement. To them, time at the lake means relaxing in the outdoors and enjoying time with family and friends, and this influenced their vision for their Candle Lake wedding day.
Their ceremony took place on the beach in the Island View subdivision, just down the road from Cody’s family cabin – which, in a fantastic coincidence, was a stone’s throw from my own family cabin. It was pretty sweet to be able to wander on down to the beach for a wedding after enjoying my morning coffee on the deck! Cody is a carpenter and Aimee is an energetic DIY lover. Together they created all of their whimsical woody wedding decor, including rustic handpainted signs to guide the way, and and a fabulous driftwood arch under which they would be married on the beach.
It wasn’t exactly beach weather that day, but you wouldn’t know it from the smiles on both their faces as Aimee’s parents walked her down the trail to the beach and her husband-to-be. With the wind in their hair and their feet in the sand, they declared their commitment and love on the shores of the lake which had witnessed so much of it.
After the ceremony, the wedding party loaded up Minnie Winnie the Winnebago to continue the celebration. True to their adventurous selves, we spent some time touring the local forest and marina for their photos. The weather may not have held, but it did nothing to dampen the anyone’s spirits! The reception, complete with photobooth and Cody’s one and only dance move, carried on well into the northern evening.
Congratulations Aimee and Cody on a gorgeous day that celebrated love, family, and friends in true lake life fashion!
