Teresa and Willie’s Wedding in Colonsay, Saskatchewan
The harvest sun shone warm and bright the morning of Teresa and Willie‘s Colonsay wedding, dust clouds rising behind the combines in the fields. Teresa’s sisters sat around the dining room table, laughing at the antics of the excited flowergirls. Teresa’s mom buttoned her into her dress, while Willie enjoyed a beer in the backyard with his groomsmen. After a sweet first look behind the barn where their grandchildren will someday play, they spent much of their day at home on the farm, where they now begin their next beautiful chapter.
Their ceremony took place late in the afternoon at Colonsay Community Hall. Family and friends gathered to witness their personal vows, promises made for life with laughter and tears. In a field on the edge of town, they took time alone to savor that just married feeling, while hazy late afternoon light enveloped them with golden warmth.
Meanwhile, the hall had been converted into a rustic harvest dream for their reception. Signs made from vintage windows, easels and barrels welcomed guests in the entrance. Wood, wheat, pumpkins, antlers and a massive barnwood backdrop also paid homage to their country roots. String lights and greenery added a cozy, intimate vibe to the hall, while guests mingled and reunited over cocktails. After a hearty harvest-style supper and some hilarious and thoughtful speeches, their sweet first dance kicked off the party! The doors of the little country hall were thrown open to let a refreshing fall breeze flow over the energetic crowd on the dance floor, which stayed full all night.
Teresa and Willie, no one deserves this perfect day more than the two of you, surrounded by friends, family, and lots of happy memories. Your love exudes a deep, quiet strength, and I’m honored to have been present to document it on this special day. Congratulations!
