Haley and Garret’s Rural Saskatchewan Wedding at Marysburg Assumption Church
Haley and Garret met at summer camp when they were 13. A mutual friend introduced them, and Garret made it his mission to get Haley to like him. He accomplished this by doing the one thing he knew would work without fail: he busted out his impersonation of Zach Galafinakis doing his 2011 Saturday Night Live monologue. It broke the ice, and they laughed and joked all week, but it wasn’t an immediate success. Haley had a boyfriend. Garret held out hope. Eventually it paid off, and they finally started dating a couple of years later.
Six years later, Garret proposed: “That shit was beautiful. We were hiking in the woods, the snow was fresh, there was no one around and he got down on one knee and popped the question. And then I cried a bunch.”
The morning of their rural Saskatchewan wedding, the farmhouse buzzed with people preparing for the day. Hair and makeup in the dining room, the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room, and the basement, with laughter and high spirits all around. Meanwhile, over in Marysburg, guests milled around the church grounds in the hot July sun. Visiting each other’s campsites and cracking a few cold beers in the refuge of the shade, they were ready to make a weekend of it – as Haley put it, “a classic hometown shindig.”
Garret absolutely beamed as Haley entered the church – the same church where her grandparents and parents were married, and where she was baptised. Afterwards, they visited her great-grandfather’s farm for photos, the barn still standing strong (and full of kittens). These places tell a story that spans generations, a story that now has a new chapter. The day ended with a lot of home-cooked food, drinking, a campfire, and dancing, as all good classic hometown shindigs do.
Haley and Garret’s love for each other shines with an energy that is as fresh as when they were teenagers. You can see it in the way Haley absolutely lights up in his presence, in how Garret would sneak smiling sidelong glances at her all day long, in the whispered jokes they shared. Congratulations, and may you always feel like two kids in love <3
“Tracy was absolutely phenomenal, not only in her customer service but also her photographic abilities. We would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a great photographer at a reasonable rate. She was able to capture so many special moments at my wedding, and my wife and I are very glad that we chose to book with her!!”

Their farm was so beautiful! And I loved the story too – I also met my husband at summer camp 🙂 so those stories are my favourite!
