Dawn & James’ Summer Wedding at Guenther Farms in Hepburn, Saskatchewan
When your main goal for your wedding is “to laugh so much your faces hurt,” how can you not have the absolute best day?! Dawn and James had a clear vision for their wedding at Guenther Farms: simple, fun, and laid back. They especially looked forward to seeing everyone come together to support their love and make some beautiful memories.
Upstairs in the barn, Dawn and her bridesmaids put the final touches on their hair and makeup, then relaxed on the balcony with mimosas while Dawn finished up her vows. Meanwhile, the groomsmen played ball on the lawn, soaking up the summer sun as guests visited on the patio nearby.
After a delicious waffle brunch, it was go time! Dawn and James met for the sweetest first look before the wedding party joined them for photos, cooler of frosty drinks in hand. Nobody was going to let the heat stop them! Despite the hot sun, they were full of energy and ready to rock. Supportive, attentive, and absolutely hilarious, they’re clearly a very important part of the couple’s lives.
Before the ceremony, Dawn slipped inside to powder her nose – or so she said. But she was actually changing into a second dress, which was a total surprise for James! She couldn’t decide between the two dresses, so the only obvious solution was to wear them both!
Instead of a ring bearer, the “Flower and Beer Man” lead the processional. He didn’t quite succeed in kicking off his performance by dramatically ripping off his shirt sleeves, but a couple of groomsmen rushed to assist. Throwing petals as he went, he handed out ice-cold beers to appreciative guests as he made his way down the aisle. And in the warm late afternoon sun, Dawn and James read their vows and pledged their forevers.
A quick break for some McDonald’s, and it was time for the speeches and reception in the pole shed! Dawn had wanted to surprise James by stepping out at sunset for some action shots with his lightsabers. But the surprise got blown days earlier, when Dawn couldn’t find the charger and he wanted to know why. Surprise or not, it really made no sense to cap off this high-energy and hilariously fun day with anything other than a lightsaber duel at dusk. Then it was back to the reception to kick up some dust on the dance floor in true country style!
Dawn and James, your day was so full of fun, unique moments celebrated with the absolute best people. Cheers to a lifetime of sunny days together, laughing until your faces hurt!
