Gessika and Chris had known each other “forever” before they got engaged (which, according to Gess, is about 8 years haha). One summer they thought it would be funny to convince their friends that they were a couple, which eventually lead to them spreading the rumor that they were getting married. Apparently they convinced themselves in the process, because one day they just thought “why not?” and… well, here we are!
I love when couples ignore trends and make their wedding their own, and Gessika and Chris certainly did that with their Prince Albert wedding. Gessika loves purple and Chris loves orange – not the most conventional wedding color combination, but it totally worked. Gessika incorporated plenty of butterflies in her bouquet and other decor, and gave a nods to Chris’ love of the Pittsburgh Penguins on her garter and cake! After a beautiful ceremony at the Sacred Heart Cathedral and photos at my favorite P.A. location, the party hit full throttle at the Art Hauser Centre. Gessika’s little cousin Rebecca started off the live music with her version of Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” for the bride and groom. Following her emotional (and absolutely adorable) performance, not one but two bands hit the stage, kicked off the dance with a jigging contest, and kept the dance floor full late into the night. I’d been told that Chris had some pretty skilled dance moves, and he didn’t disappoint. Just like Gessika and Chris themselves, their wedding day was colorful, bright, and full of laughter, from start to finish.
I first met Gessika back in 2011, when I was shooting my first official wedding ever. She was the life of the photobooth, dragging people in, dressing them up, and making them laugh. She hired me that fall for a photobooth at her sister’s wedding. We met up again in 2013 at Sam and Jason’s Prince Albert wedding, where she was a bridesmaid. Needless to say, when told me that Chris had popped the question, I jumped at the chance to be a part of her very own wedding day! I’m so honored to have celebrated with two wonderful people who will undoubtedly keep each other smiling through the decades to come.
